Paseo del Prado
Havana, Cuba
December 7, 2003

The next morning I was feeling much better and set off as soon as the sun rose to see more of this wonderful city. I headed back down the Paseo del Prado to the Malecσn for sunrise.

The Paseo is one of the best known streets in Havana. Originally laid out in 1772 by the Marquis de la Torre, it was used for military parades in the 19th century and finally redesigned into its current configuration in 1927 by the French architect Forestier.

It is a lovely place for a stroll, lined with graceful trees and beautifully restored buildings. People of all ages walk slowly along the boulevard meeting friends and neighbors. Art is displayed for sale and children play on the stone benches that line the way.
